Supporting Neurodiverse Families: Meet Dr. Melissa Fellin

About Dr. Melissa Fellin

Hi, I’m Dr. Melissa Fellin (she/her) — a mom, social worker, academic, and passionate advocate for women’s mental health and neurodiversity.

With over 20 years of experience in mental health and well-being, I bring a blend of lived experience, academic insight, and grounded support to the work I do. I’m a registered social worker (RSW) with degrees in Psychology, Social Work, and Anthropology, including a PhD — but what truly drives me is helping women and families feel seen, supported, and empowered.

I founded Bloom: Child & Family Therapy in Kitchener-Waterloo, a space rooted in compassion, connection, and care that supports the mental health of children and youth and their families.

As a neurodiverse woman raising three incredible neurodiverse kids, I know how beautifully complex motherhood can be — especially when your children feel deeply, think differently, or challenge the norms. I write for women like you: women who are nurturing sensitive, spirited, or neurodivergent kids and seeking a space where they can exhale, learn, and grow.

Whether I’m teaching at universities, speaking at conferences, or writing from my kitchen table — my message is the same: you are not alone, and there is a path to connection, calm, and confidence.

Let’s walk it together.

For the beauty in difference—and the love that shapes it,
Melissa
